Neils Momberg: Cricket SA Youth Manager

Cricket Tournaments are wonderful events where players are given an opportunity to test their skills on a higher level. It also gives coaches and other administrators to grow in their specific areas in the game.

It is my firm belief that for cricket to continue to produce world class players, nursery tournaments of this nature need to be given high priority and focus. Almost all players who have played for South Africa in various representative teams have come through the ranks of schools cricket. As we move forward in achieving excellence in cricket we need to give particular focus to junior cricket in all of its forms.

The Regional tournament in Worcester has been place for a number of years now and Shafiek Jacobs and his Local Organizing committee must be commended for their hard work to put this event in place every year.

My challenge to all payers and officials is play hard but fair. Also make sure that you make new friends. Enjoy the games!

Shaheed Khan: Chairman: SA Schools Cricket

On behalf of SA Schools Cricket I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the participants, parents and administrators to the Feedem-Pitseng U13 Cricket Week.

This tournament is part of a development pathway from grassroots through to the national cricket team that provides aspirant cricketers with the opportunity to realize their full potential. The South African schools cricket system is undoubtedly the nursery of cricket in our country has been a wonderful breeding ground for provincial and national sides . The overwhelming majority of our current professional cricketers have been through this pipeline.

Cricket is a vehicle for learning valuable life-skills – it challenges you to not only display your technical skills , but also to look beyond yourself and put the needs of your team ahead of your own. Thus, our tournaments have been structured so that players can learn to balance individual achievement with team goals.

Our cricket weeks also afford players the opportunity to move beyond their comfort zones and mix with players from different backgrounds and to forge new friendships . In this way we contribute to national transformation, social cohesion and the building of national pride.

A special word of thanks is reserved for our Tournament Director, Shafiek Jacobs, the LOC and the sponsors, Feedem–Pitseng for their tireless efforts in ensuring that all arrangements are in place for a memorable event.

Finally , to the players: work hard, have fun , make friends and enjoy the week.We wish you all a successful festival.

Day 1 of the Tournament went off well. Day 2, the excitement and action intensifies as the tournament reached the semi-finals.  Day 3 rained out.  Day 4 was hectic as we played 2 matches, a Pro20 and a reduced 30 over game.  Day 5 is finals.
